Portal Rules

These are the house rules for the school portal — short, plain, and binding on everyone who signs in: pupils, students, parents, teachers and administrators. The school calls a child in Creche to Primary 6 a pupil and a child in JSS 1 to SS 3 a student; where this policy says child it means either.

1. Your account

• Your account is yours alone. Do not share your password.
• Sign out on a shared or borrowed device.
• Tell the school at once if you think someone else has got into your account.

2. Messaging

• Write as you would speak to someone's face in the school hall.
• No insults, no threats, no name-calling, no spreading rumours.
• Nothing indecent, and nothing that mocks a person's tribe, religion, family or appearance.
• Messages are stored and the school can read them. There is no private corner of this portal.
• Teachers reply during working hours. A message is not the way to reach the school in an emergency — call.

3. Class group chats

• Every child in the class is a member, and members cannot leave — the group belongs to the class, not to any child.
• The class teacher supervises it.
• A class captain, appointed by the teacher, may pin an important message and post announcements. A captain cannot delete anyone else's message or remove a classmate.
• Keep it to school matters: homework, notices, arrangements.

4. The AI assistant

• Use it to understand your work, not to have your work done for you. Submitting an answer the assistant wrote and calling it your own is cheating, and is treated as such.
• It can be wrong. Check anything important with your teacher.
• Do not type personal secrets, passwords, or anyone else's private information into it.
• Do not try to talk it into revealing another child's records. It is built to refuse, and the attempt is logged.

5. Tests and examinations

• Sit a CBT test or examination on your own, without help and without another device.
• Do not copy questions out, photograph the screen, or pass questions to another child.
• Do not attempt to interfere with the timer or the marking. Marking happens on the school's server, not on your device.
• An attempt to cheat means the paper is cancelled and the matter goes to the school's disciplinary procedure.

6. Uploads

• Only upload what belongs in a school: your assignment, a photograph the school asked for.
• Do not upload anything indecent, unlawful, or belonging to someone else without their permission.

7. Security

• Do not probe, scan or try to break the portal. Report a weakness instead — the school will thank you for it.
• Do not use automated tools to pull data out of the portal.
• Do not attempt to open records that are not yours.

8. For staff

• Open a child's record when you have a reason to. Administrative actions are logged.
• Do not take child data out of the portal — no spreadsheets of child details on a personal phone or laptop.
• Keep contact with children inside the portal, where there is a record.
• Publish results only when the school says they are ready.

9. If these rules are broken

Depending on what happened, the school may give a warning, suspend the account, involve parents, apply the school's disciplinary procedure, or report the matter to the police. Serious misuse of another person's account or data is a criminal offence under the Cybercrimes Act.
